| The
Minden-Tahoe Airport is a 990-acre general aviation
non-towered airport. Built in 1942 as a military
training base, Douglas County acquired the airport
and has operated as a municipal airport governed
by the Douglas County Board of County Commissioners.
The airport serves a broad base of aviation uses,
from corporate to recreational flying. It is home
to approximately 250 based aircraft with 80,000
annual operations. It is also home for the Minden
Tanker Base and the Sierra Front Dispatch Agency,
with a primary mission of dispatching tankers
to fires in the entire Sierra Nevada mountains
area.

Aids
The airport has an AWOS III (Automated Weather
Observation System) operating on 119.325 and a
non-precision GPS (Global Positioning System)
approach.
Runways
There are three active runways: 16/34 approximately
7,500 feet (calm wind) with medium intensity lighting
and VASI's (operated by mike); 12/30 approximately
5,000 feet (crosswind); and 30L a dirt runway
used exclusively by the glider tow planes.

Base Operator
The airport is served by Hutt Aviation, Inc. and
Soar Minden, Inc. full service fixed base operators
in aviation needs, including aircraft maintenance,
flight instruction, aircraft sales, tie-downs
and 100LL and Jet A fuel sales. They also operate
the airport's Unicom on 123.05. Hours of operation
are 6:30am to dusk during the summer and 7:30am
